Why Should You Create a Blog on Great History?

January 1st, 2009 in Great History Site by Brian King

Why should you create a blog on Great History?

1. You need a place to write about subjects of history, but don’t want to write on generalized blog sites such as blogger.com.  At Great History, you will be writing within an audience already interested in history.

2. You want to write more formally in the History community.  Great History and the blogs within the network will be frequented by magazine editors and staffers, writers, academics, professionals, etc.

3. You want to move your past writings from another blog service to Great History (we can provide limited technical help to get this done).

Why you SHOULDN’T create a blog on Great History.

1. If you only want to comment on articles, or interact with other Great History members, you do not need to create your own blog.

2. You want to write about things which have no relevance to History.  Because we are trying to bring History themes to Great History, we cannot allow blogs which have no connection to our core.  A blog about historical movies would be allowed for instance, but a blog about sports would probably not pass muster.  A blog about the history of sports would be right at home!

3. Spam.  Needless to say, blogs promoting products or otherwise spamming our community will be dealt with harshly.
