  • Just hanging out with a cup of coffee.

  • Hi Richard! Loved your book Marines in the Garden of Eden. Welcome to Great History!

And welcome to all the other writers and lurkers. We are glad you could check us out.

  • Hello all,

I just joined GreatHistory. Watch for my posts. My first post will be here soon. I am a contemporary author of military history. I write compelling factual accounts of the men and women who are fighting in the Global War on Terror. Visit http://www.RichardSLowry.com for more info. (The site is under construction – more content will be added soon)

  • Well I do not know if many of you know me, but I have a blog operating here at Great History. While I know that my posting is sporadic at best, I am going to try to keep myself a more strict schedule in the future, time allowing. This website is great for people like me, free-lance writers just starting out their careers. While comments are scare aside from the occasional spam (how annoying!) I know that at least some people are reading.

Thanks go out to Gerald for providing me with the inspiration, indirectly, to come out here and open a blog for myself.

Actually I do have a question for my fellow authors here: I am having more difficulties then I thought with my current series and I was wondering if it would be wise for me to wrap it up with next planned installment, the Siege of Jerusalem (I know there was a siege between the actions at Antioch and Jerusalem, but I am trying cover the major battles first) and re-name it to ’Sieges of the First Crusade’? That way I could step back from it and concentrate on something else and then pick up the thread with ’Sieges of the Second Crusade’ at another point. Maybe I should just stick with it?

  • I hope to read more postings by the regular contributors to Great History as my time permits. I know I will enjoy them just from the front page excepts I read – my list is adding up fast. My particular area of concern (popular culture) requires me to interface with a number of individuals and organizations. When I do, I always mention the Great History website, send them a link when the blog they are mentioned in posts and I also suggest they try to link the article to their websites if possible. At least one post has resulted in a link to Twitter and Facebook. Just one person’s experience but if any of you have the opportunity to do the same it will help us all. JW
