Reuters News Agency reports that a judge in Milan, Italy, convicted 23 Americans of abducting a Muslim cleric on the streets of Milan six years ago. The high-profile case is considered a landmark in legal actions involving “rendition” flights under the George W. Bush administration to seize suspected terrorists. The convictions carry eight-year sentences. Charges were dropped against three other Americans due to diplomatic immunity.

About the Author: I regard historic research as a never-ending Easter egg hunt: You never know where you'll find a hidden treasure. I've met war veterans, early aviators, friends of Abraham Lincoln's in-laws, and a host of others who shared their histories with me – and it was never boring!
